John shoots location portrait and lifestyle for advertising and editorial clients and divides his time between Los Angeles and Baltimore. He and his family were recently inspired to move to sunny California after two weeks of deep inner reflection in Thailand. Originally from Maine, he moved to Baltimore in the early 90's to follow his dream of going to art school. As a true Libra, he's all about balancing his artistic self with his inner athlete by running marathons and playing ice hockey in a local Men's league (Read: Drinking beer late on a Sunday night in an empty parking lot with a bunch of old guys). John graduated from The Maryland Institute College of Art with a degree in Photography and began his career working in a small custom black and white film/printing lab and assisting other photographers. He believes that shooting only film when he started out was integral in the evolution of his creative eye and by slowing down the process of seeing the mind is able to process more deeply. He currently resides with his wife, daughter and large kid friendly cat in a pink house in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Northeast LA.
